I recently received a text from my road running buddy who has just started running trails wanting to get the phone number of my buddy who runs ultras. Ultra Runner, Trail RunnerAbdul barihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02394126800848561337noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8964307101197726120.post-83577472317440994642013-01-04T18:54:58.302-08:002013-01-04T18:54:58.302-08:00Was the Poky Puppy any less a puppy because he was...Was the Poky Puppy any less a puppy because he was Poky??Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10871862951083402190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8964307101197726120.post-44004673570827439852013-01-04T18:53:18.505-08:002013-01-04T18:53:18.505-08:00agreed!! Some of my best memories during trail runs are those "camera breaks" on hills, taking a minute to enjoy it all...and then bombing the downhills past the people who ran the uphills. : )
And, for the record, you pass everyone on the uphills - runners, walkers, hikers, and crawlers-nobodies safe when NTL is charging up the hill!Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10871862951083402190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8964307101197726120.post-9835610861966283912013-01-02T08:48:13.452-08:002013-01-02T08:48:13.452-08:00I agree, it is the best time to take everything in...I agree, it is the best time to take everything in. I think that is why I like running the trails the most, it isn't as monotonous running on the road.

And you are definitely an ultra runner in my book. I can get around that by saying I 'finished" a Half, but I'm OK with saying I ran it - anyone who does trail races knows what that means.

I often see road runners on the trails that are determined to run the whole race. I also often pass them while I am walking up a hill and they are "running" the hill. I give them a lot of credit, and they are likely stronger than me, but I'm having a much better time while they keep muttering "never again." I feel for those that are so repulsed by the idea of walking during a race. I think they are really missing out on how much fun trails can be. notthatlucashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10429091759111933245noreply@blogger.com
